The Lawrence Historical Society has partnered with the Museum of the American Revolution to bring the First Oval Office Project – handsewn, full-scale replicas of General George Washington’s sleeping and office marquee — to the historic Brearley House.
The tent was more than canvas and poles — it was the center of decision-making, struggle, and hope during the Revolutionary War. It tells the story of Washington’s leadership and all who were there: soldiers, civilians, and communities whose sacrifices shaped
a new nation. The original tent is preserved and on permanent display at the Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia. For one
day only, you can step inside history right here in Lawrence!
